Lesson Learned?

Reagan quote

Ronald Reagan won a second term winning 49 states. He was a huge success. In some ways, Donald Trump accomplished as much or more than Reagan but without the popularity and without a second term. Even if more voting fraud is found, it was nowhere close to 49 states. Why? Everyone including me could list a bunch of reasons and I will list one. Character.

“There is no limit to the amount of good you can do if you don’t care who gets the credit.” Those were the words of Reagan. Trump always made sure he said, “nobody is better at _________than me.” Can you imagine the best quarterback of a great football team telling the reporter afterward they won because of him alone? No, what you see is great players thanking the team and God and their moms. This is not a new lesson. You already know this. You admire it in others.

Most people put up with Trump’s ability to step on his team’s great accomplishments by tweeting out unneeded comments. If you were OK with that because he was overall doing a good job. Fine. It’s a free country. (for now) 86% of those voting for Trump did so because they liked his accomplishments. Only about 50% of Bidens supporters wanted Biden to be President, the other half were simply tired of Trump and I would guess they are talking about his character. Yes, the media made his character out to sound much worse. They tried that on Reagan, too.

Do I have some magic answer to end with? No. Just a chance to offer a lesson we may all need to be reminded of in our own lives. “There is no limit to the amount of good you can do if you don’t care who gets the credit.”

A classic Reagan speech.
